Working remotely has been a life-saver for my pain. However, it took some trial and error and making tough decisions to finally come to the conclusion that working from home would be the only way I was going to be able to work.
When I was a classroom teacher I was on my feet for 90% of my day. As my pain got worse I knew I could no longer keep both my job and my health. So, I found a job where I was still teaching, but was able to sit at a desk a majority of the day. I was convinced this was going to be just what I needed. Unfortunately, I had to quit that job before I even made it to the one-year mark. I was devastated, but was fully convinced I needed a job where I could work from home.
The job search was overwhelming, discouraging, and even confusing. I luckily managed to land an incredible part-time job where I can work from the desk, couch, or bed and take breaks when I need them. My body is SO grateful for that! I wanted to share what I have learned through my search for a remote job.
